Interbank and open market rates
The rate above is the interbank or mid-market rate: the price at which banks trade currencies with each other. When you exchange cash or receive a remittance, the bank or exchange company uses its own buying rate (a little lower) or selling rate (a little higher). Ask for both before you exchange money.
Sending money home
Most remittances to Pakistan come from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the UK and the USA. Sending through banks and licensed exchange companies (Roshan Digital, bank apps, Western Union, MoneyGram and others) is safe and legal; avoid hundi/hawala.
